The Organic Farming & Vermicomposting Course at the Zebra Liquid Vocational Institute is a 1-month intensive vocational program. This course provides practical skills in chemical-free crop production, soil regeneration, organic fertilizer formulation, and vermicomposting (earthworm composting). Synthetic fertilizers and chemical pesticides degrade soils and incur high costs; this course teaches sustainable alternatives using red wiggler worms (Eisenia fetida), bio-pesticides, crop rotation, and green manures.
Combining biological farming practices with agribusiness management, this course enables participants to produce organic crops and commercial organic fertilizers. Graduates receive post-training mentorship and assistance in obtaining organic certification.
By the end of the course, participants will:
Master soil biology, organic matter dynamics, and soil regeneration techniques.
Construct vermicomposting worm bins, manage worm beds, and harvest worm castings and "vermi-tea."
Prepare botanical bio-pesticides and liquid organic fertilizers using local plants (neem, Tithonia, ash, manure).
